It is probably too late, but what if we were to perform in a very minimalistic bedroom? The whole slumber party idea got me thinking… It would be very intimate. And mirrors would still work. And it goes back to our earlier thoughts of the trinity of human spaces – bedroom, kitchen, living room. I doubt it will happen, but I figure there’s no harm in sharing random ideas. But I also think we can do a lot with a studio space and some installation.

The audience enters and three women sit on a corner of the room playing with a toy disco ball. The sound is being micd - There are cushions in the middle for the audience.

The action is all set around them.

There are mirrors on the different sides of the 4 walls.

There are torches

There are mics in each corner.

Girls will have matches, lipstick, koll, chalk

The Girls will choose what to wear, and need to understand the memory that can exist in everything piece of clothes they wear.

Do you ever see a stranger walking towards you and for this one silly second you recognize them? And the next silly second, you realize they are strange to you. And the next silly second, you think, “no, I know you! I recognize you! I don’t know where.” Maybe you try to create meaning with strange. Maybe you see yourself in strange.

I’m starting to believe that everyone I meet is a mirror. A mirror showing all of my enthusiasm, all of my suggestions, all of my insecurities, and all of my self.

Ideas for structure – A way forward – VERY IMPORTANT

After our very intense workshop I went back home and send a long email to Katherine, spoke on the phone and have a proposal of a structure for the piece. It will be small – around 30 minutes:

This is the gist of it.

We developed three movement pieces based on personal memories which were very intense and very powerful.

In a way all of them worked with sorrow and pain and brought it to a very emotional and real realm – even if they were just movement pieces.

I don’t want to loose these three pieces

One - set in a bedroom in a small town.

Two – an obsessively clean white kitchen.

Three – Living Room (in a Family House)

Plus the LISTS - all you see when before you get to this place

I want to develop these scenes and lists more - Re-Creation of Memory

Work for these ideas –

How did they come to go to these places? (walking, orbiting, mercury) – How do you travel between emotions? Do you walk there?

They are three but only one can live that memory.

The Earth orbiting around mercury is maybe something for the Last scene –
The destruction of truths

PLOT

Set:

TV – Video – Tapes, Videos, Microfones, Radios playing static.
A shining disco ball sits unused in a corner.
Maybe they are playing with the disco ball???
All starts with the image of the disco ball!!

STARTS with three Strangers Playing with the Stars (disco ball)

Scene 1 -
Three Strangers Receive An Instruction – They need to inhabit the earth, Discover what make for human, where is the truth? But there are only three places left on earth. A living room, a bedroom and a kitchen ( The 3 most important places humans inhabit)
Maybe play tapes and each tape has the description of how each place is. Or the list of things they will see before they get there

They get 3 tapes and 3 VHS videos???

Scene 2 -
Walking to Kitchen - Reflecting on the walk, feel of walk in the would but relating to where they are walking and why??

Scene 3 -
Kitchen -
There is the movement, there are the ideas of reliving a memory
Maybe there is the analysis of what it means -
We can play 2/1 and then 3
Maybe when the Scene happens they play a video - something from the memory -

Scene 4 -
Walking to Living Room – Reflecting on the walk, feel of walk in the would but relating to where they are walking and why??

Scene 5 -
Living Room
There is the movement, there are the ideas of reliving a memory
Maybe when the Scene happens they play a video - something from the memory -

There is nothing Left- Do they just keep walking??? Do they just go to a roftop overlooking the world and discover the earth does not orbit around the sun but around mercury??

Me Katherine and Leslie met up later and chatted and made a big mind map of all the ideas we have been having, and made some choices on what we think are worth saving and that can really help us find the focus on the work we are doing.
